History

In 1998, Dr. Dennis Stone, then Chairman of Pediatric Anesthesiology at Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, began providing pediatric dental anesthesia at Dr. Barry Setzer’s office. The goal was to deliver the same level of safety and quality as the hospital, but within the convenience of a comfortable, smaller, family-friendly dental office setting. Several years later, Dr. Stone partnered with Dr. Hector Vila, who was then Chairman of Anesthesia at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and had begun performing pediatric dental anesthesia in the Central Florida area.

Growth & Impact

Officially established in 2008, PDAA has grown to a group of 40+ pediatric anesthesiologists across 25+ states, with continued expansion each year. We are honored to have served more than 700 pediatric dental offices. Families have strongly embraced this concept, and after completing over 350,000 cases, PDAA is extremely proud to report no incidents of patient injury.

Mission

PDAA’s goal is to combine the expertise of the best pediatric anesthesiologists with compassionate, child-friendly nurses, state-of-the-art equipment, and advanced medications. Affordable fees enable families to enjoy a high-quality experience for both parents and patients. Pediatric dentists can provide a comfortable experience for their patients in the familiar setting of their own office, using their own equipment and staff, while avoiding the less-than-family-friendly environment of a hospital.
